Clay, maybe terracotta, platter with a black glaze on the top. There is a design with some sort of geometric. We don't know anything about these plates, but we can provide a few details. They are definitely heavy, raw underneath (no glaze) and glazed on top. Seems to be either African or Native. Not signed. The appearance kind of reminds us of Scgraffito, but the images are done with glaze instead of carved. The plate measures 16.25" in diameter at the top, 11.75" in diameter at the base and is 2.25"H. This particular one has a piece missing on the bottom. It doesn't cause the plate to wobble or anything and is not visible when the plate is on a stand or when sitting face up.
This and all of our other pieces can be viewed by appointment. Please email us with any questions or to schedule your visit at firstname.lastname@example.org
